IDEC has successfully delivered a new 25,200 sq m logistics platform to PROLOGIS in Douvrin, northern France. Developed with ambitious environmental objectives, the project has been built on a redeveloped brownfield site and incorporates innovative technical solutions designed to minimise its environmental impact. This latest achievement reflects the strong relationship of trust between IDEC and PROLOGIS, who have been collaborating on major logistics developments across France for more than twenty years.
A 25,200 SQ M LOGISTICS DEVELOPMENT
As a global leader in logistics real estate, PROLOGIS develops state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet the evolving needs of supply chain operators.
For this new development in Douvrin, PROLOGIS once again relied on IDEC’s expertise to deliver a high-performance logistics facility.
The project comprises:
- 23,727 sq m of warehouse space
- 721 sq m of office accommodation
Designed in a cross-dock configuration, the facility features four warehouse units of approximately 6,000 sq m each, complemented by a dedicated office and staff welfare building.
The layout has been specifically designed to optimise logistics flows and operational efficiency.
A SUSTAINABLE AND RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT
The logistics platform has been developed on a former industrial brownfield site, reflecting a strategic approach aimed at limiting land consumption and giving new purpose to previously developed land.
This project demonstrates the shared commitment of PROLOGIS and IDEC to integrating sustainable solutions from the earliest design stages.
Low-carbon construction materials were prioritised wherever possible, while particular attention was paid to optimising thermal insulation and overall energy performance.
These choices contribute to reducing the building’s environmental footprint while ensuring long-term operational efficiency.

TARGETING BREEAM VERY GOOD CERTIFICATION AND THE BIODIVERCITY LABEL
As part of its environmental excellence strategy, the project is targeting BREEAM Very Good certification and the BiodiverCity label.
A range of measures have been implemented to achieve these objectives, including:
- A hybrid timber and concrete structural system designed to reduce embodied carbon
- A heat pump system to improve energy efficiency
- Intelligent LED lighting solutions
- A solar-ready building design prepared for the future installation of photovoltaic systems
Special attention has also been given to biodiversity through the creation of landscaped green spaces and outdoor relaxation areas for employees.
These initiatives contribute to both environmental performance and occupant well-being.
A NEW SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION BETWEEN IDEC AND PROLOGIS
This project further strengthens the partnership between IDEC and PROLOGIS, a relationship built over more than two decades and numerous logistics developments throughout France.
In Douvrin, this latest facility adds to an already extensive portfolio of projects delivered jointly by the two companies within the region.
This renewed collaboration reflects a shared ambition to design and deliver increasingly efficient, sustainable and future-ready logistics infrastructure capable of meeting tomorrow’s operational and environmental challenges.
