IDEC invited its client, French supermarket giant, INTERMARCHE, local councillors and partners, who have been working on the site, as well as their own staff to a traditional French leg of lamb ceremony at the warehouse being built at Grand Fougeray (Ille-et-Vilaine). This friendly get together included 160 people.
IDEC, leader in the design and construction of logistics platforms and all sorts of commercial buildings is currently building a warehouse in Grand Fougeray for INTERMARCHE. This warehouse aims to supply all of the stores in the brand throughout Western France and will be replacing its current site. After ten months of work, IDEC invited the various partners to a lunch at the work site. “We are sticking with the traditional leg of lamb cooked in a bath of molten bitumen at our work sites,” explained Tony MORAIS, General Director of IDEC. “It’s an opportunity to bring together all those involved in the project with the builders and our client.”
11 months of work
The IDEC work teams began work on this 53,000 m² project last January at an 18 hectare site. This dry warehouse includes 7 units each measuring 6000 m² and three special units designed to store inflammable products each measuring 3000m². 65 loading bays will allow the users to make the most of these facilities. A 13,000m² pallet area has also been set up outside, which will make it the biggest for INTERMARCHE. 1800 m² of offices have been built on the second floor to house the administrative work.
A construction certified ‘exceptional environmental standard’
The construction phase was planned to ensure sustainable development with responsible management procedures including all the different environmental, social and and economic aspects. The IDEC teams were of course aiming for exceptional environmental standard certification. This comes in addition to such certified projects that have already been developed over a surface of more than a million m².
A second flagship project for INTERMARCHE
With this latest logistics platform for INTERMARCHE, IDEC has built a second major project for the French retailer. This latest project comes after the 60,500 m² warehouse handed over in late 2016 in Bourges, which also was certified to be of an exceptional environmental standard.
