IDEC, which specialises in the design and construction of turnkey projects involving logistics, industrial and service premises, has just handed over the extension of a temperature controlled warehouse to GRAND FRAIS. This project is designed to supply fruit and vegetables to many of the retailer’s stores.
The chain of shops specialising in fresh produce and spices from around the world entrusted the IDEC teams with the construction of an extension to its distribution hub in Saint Cyr en Val. This project confirms the growth of GRAND FRAIS, which is continuing its development across France with many new stores opening.
An efficient partnership between GRAND FRAIS and IDEC
“The relationship with IDEC was always very clear with nothing being hidden. Each of us was able to defend our point of view, but always with the aim of coming together to build a hub, which corresponded to the requirements of GRAND FRAIS,” explained Philippe GIROUX, Logistics Director for PRELOCENTRE, the subsidiary of the company dedicated to supplying stores. “They followed to the letter the specifications that were laid down, answered all ourquestions, while the construction work was of a high quality and the way the site was run each day showed us that we were working with some true professionals. We just had to wait patiently for the work to be completed and the building handed over.”
8 months of work
The construction of the 8000 m² extension to the controlled temperature warehouse and the 2500 m² washing area required eight months of work. The construction was carried out while the premises kept running and this required a specific organisation. In order to enable GRAND FRAIS to keep its business going during the construction work, special measures were put in place, in particular managing the supplies (for the work site and the client) in the construction area with the installation of traffic lights on the carefully marked out access roads. The goal was to be clear from the outset with the client’s daily organisation.
“The ability of the IDEC teams and their reassuring attitude were key elements in the success of this project. We hope to work with IDEC again in the future,” concluded Philippe GIROUX. These comments pleased Tony MORAIS, General Director of IDEC. “The satisfaction so clearly expressed by our client is a real indicator of our performance. We coped perfectly well with dealing with the construction work and keeping the business at the existing hub up and running.”
